I greatly enjoy (and learn a huge amount from) postgraduate teaching.

I currently co-convene with Saurabh Arora, the Sussex University Masters programme in Sustainable Development.
I also help co-convene with Saurabh Arora the Sussex University online distance learning programme on Sustainable Development.

I also teach as a guest lecturer on a wide variety of other postgraduate courses in Sussex and other universities. Along with many colleagues, I have for many years helped co-convene in Sussex the STEPS Centre international summer school on 'pathways to sustainability'.

Currently co-supervising 2 doctoral projects in SPRU, I have over the years (co)supervised 16 doctoral projects to completion (4 awarded without amendments). These have been on a range of topics relating to the research questions summarised under the 'research' tab. I greatly welcome new applications for projects on these issues.

I have served as an external examiner for 25 doctoral theses at 23 universities in 12 countries and given more than 800 invited lectures in 29 countries - for colleagues by whom it has been a privilege to have been taught a great deal.
