BIO
I am a PhD researcher in Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) policy at the University of Sussex (SPRU), with over six years of experience in public policy, specializing in education, science, technology and innovation. My research explores how future-oriented methods, especially backcasting, can support the development of feasible and transformative policy pathways for sustainability transitions.
Before starting my PhD, I worked in the goverment in Panama, where I was involved in the design and implementation of education, science, technology and innovation policies. I led high-impact initiatives, including the formulation of the Inter-American Developtment Bank (IADB) loan 2024–2029 for SENACYT and the development of the National Strategic Plan for Science, Technology and Innovation (PENCYT) 2025–2029.
My methodological experience includes case study research and social network analysis (SNA), applied to the study of policy processes. I am particularly interested in bridging academic research and policy practice, contributing to the design of more coherent, anticipatory, and transformative STI policies in the Global South.
