BIO

I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Engineering and Product Design. I specialise in materials science and engineering, with particular expertise in nano- and microscale engineering and particle science, and applications in the healthcare, energy and transport sectors.

I have a highly multidisciplinary background, and I have become an expert in working at research field interfaces. Originally studying Physics as an undergraduate, I completed a PhD in nanomaterials chemistry at King’s College London, followed by postdoctoral positions at University College London (in materials science) and Imperial College London (in bioengineering). I was a Senior Scientist at ETH Zürich (in chemical engineering), having moved to Switzerland as the recipient of a Marie Skłodowska Curie Individual Fellowship. From there I moved to London South Bank University in 2021 as a Lecturer (mechanical engineering and design), before joining the University of Sussex in 2024 as a Lecturer in Engineering and Product Design.
