Lara joined the University of Sussex as a Professor of Law and Legal Education in September 2023. Prior to taking up her role in the Law School, Lara was a Reader in Law at Keele University and the Law School's Director of Education since 2017. She holds a PhD from the University of Leicester and is a Senior Fellow of the HEA.

Lara is a co-author of Haley & McMurtry, Equity & Trusts (Sweet & Maxwell) now in its 7th edition.
