BIO

Dr Faruk Bhuiyan currently serves the University of Sussex Business School as an Assistant Professor in Accounting. Dr Bhuiyan has been teaching since 2010 at various universities including Australia and the UK. Before joining the University of Sussex Business School in August 2023, he started teaching at Teesside University International Business School, England, UK as a Lecturer in Accounting in December 2022. Prior to that, he served Brac University Business School, Bangladesh as an Assistant Professor of Accounting from May 2021. Before that, he used to teach at different universities in Australia including the University of Newcastle, Australia, and Australian Catholic University as a Sessional Lecturer of Accounting from June 2019 to April 2021.


Dr Bhuiyan holds the Certified Practising Accountant (CPA) designation with CPA Australia from October 2023. He completed a UK professional qualification in higher education namely ‘Post-graduate Certificate in Higher Education (PGCertHE)’ at the University of Sussex. He is now a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA), UK.


Apart from his teaching experience for more than a decade, he worked as a Research Fellow at various universities, including the University of Birmingham, UK, and Macquarie University, Australia, for different periods and on funded projects.

Dr. Bhuiyan is an emerging researcher, who has a track record of publishing in refereed and peer-reviewed journals include 'Journal of International Accounting, Auditing and Taxation', 'Business Strategy and the Environment', 'Journal of Management Control', and ‘Meditari Accountancy Research’.

Dr Bhuiyan received his Ph.D. in Accounting from Macquarie University, Sydney, Australia back in June 2020. His Ph.D. research was within the broad field of management accoutning and corporate sustainability with a special focus on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Management Control Systems, the Neo-institutional isomorphism strand of Institutional theory, and Organisational Performance.
