Shirin Sultana is currently doing her PhD in law at the University of Sussex. Her doctoral thesis examines the state claim of 'right to regulate' in the field of International Investment Law from a comparative research lense.

She holds a teaching position at the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. She has completed her LL.B. (Hons) and LL.M. from the University of Dhaka. She holds another LLM in Law, Development and Globalisation from SOAS University of London. She regularly publishes in reputed journals and edited volumes. She often presents her work in academic and other forums internationally.

Shirin’s research interest lies in the area of international investment law, investment arbitration, interactions of investment laws and trade laws, transnational organised crime, particularly trafficking in persons (TIP), smuggling of migrants (SOM) and money laundering, human rights particularly rights of women and child.
