I am a Part-Time Assistant Professor in Education at the University of Sussex, teaching across both BA and MA programmes. I am based in the Department of Education within the School of Education and Social Work, Faculty of Social Sciences. I was awarded my PhD in Education by the University of Sussex, having successfully defended my thesis with no corrections, and I am proud to be a Stuart Hall Scholar. My research and teaching are grounded in a strong commitment to social justice in education.

My doctoral thesis, Echoes of Empire: A Collective Story of Black Brit-ish Academics Working in Higher Education Institutions in England, explores coloniality within higher education and examines the lived experiences of Black academics working in these institutional spaces. The thesis critically interrogates how colonial logics persist in contemporary universities and highlights the ways Black academics navigate, resist, and reimagine these structures.

More broadly, my work explores the experiences of marginalised communities within educational contexts, with particular attention to race, gender, sexuality, (dis)ability, and the intersections of multiple axes of oppression. I am especially interested in how structures of power shape educational policy, institutional practice, and lived experience, and how education can function as a site of resistance, transformation, and liberation.

I teach across a range of modules with a strong social justice focus, supporting students to critically engage with issues of inequality, identity, power, and pedagogy. In addition to teaching, I supervise undergraduate dissertations, supporting students to develop rigorous, critically engaged research projects.

Alongside my academic role, I contribute to institutional development as a steering group member of Black at Sussex, a university-funded initiative working to promote positive experiences and meaningful change for Black staff and students across the institution.

I have published in the field of education and social justice and welcome opportunities for collaboration, research partnerships, and supervision enquiries in areas relating to social justice and education.
