Cecilia's PhD research focuses on the determination of the nationality status and country of origin of asylum-seekers in Europe, and specifically in Germany, Italy and Switzerland. Cecilia is supervised by Prof Nuno Ferreira  and Prof Samantha Velluti 

Cecilia's broader research interests include international and European refugee and migration law and policy, nationality and statelessness law, and border studies. Cecilia is interested in both theoretical legal questions and the empirical study of how law is understood, shaped and operationalised by its users.
