BIO
Chaya Jayathileka currently holds a position as an Accounting Lecturer (Assistant Professor) at the University of Sussex Business School, working under the Department of Accounting and Finance. Chaya has been engaged in teaching in various roles within the UK Higher education sector since September 2022.
Before commencing her academic position at the University of Sussex Business School in June 2023, she began her role as a Lecturer in Business and Management at St Mary's University, London, UK in January 2023. During her tenure as a Lecturer at St Mary's University, she simultaneously held the position of dissertation supervisor at Glasgow Caledonian University, overseeing the MBA dissertations of students from various countries. Before becoming a member of St Mary's University in London; Prior to this experience, she worked as a Graduate Teaching Assistant in Management, at the University of Glasgow on September 2022.
Chaya's teaching experience exceeds two years, and she's an up-and-coming researcher in the field of Social and Environmental Accounting. Her publishing experience includes papers in peer-reviewed journals such as 'Critical Perspective of Accounting'. Chaya successfully defended her doctoral thesis in Accounting and Finance at the University of Glasgow in April 2023. Her Ph.D. research is focused on accountability for the right to health of female tea plantation workers in Sri Lanka.
