Ayomikun is an Associate Professor in Information Systems at the Business School. He holds a Ph.D. in Information Systems from Royal Holloway University of London, an MSc in Business Information Systems from Middlesex University, London, and a Bachelor with Honours in Business Studies from Cardiff Metropolitan University. Ayo had previously held teaching and research positions at University College London (UCL) and Royal Holloway University of London.

His research focuses on digital platform employment, digital labour and the circular economy in the developing world. He is particularly interested in the emerging practices, technology affordance, and improvisation involved in the adoption of technology, and its employment implications in developing countries. Some of his work has been published in book chapters and in leading IS journals like Information & Organization (I&O), European Journal for Information Systems (EJIS), and Information Systems Frontier (ISF).

In his research, Ayo has collaborated with private sector and donor organisations and consulted on projects with different international organisations, including the International Organisation for Employers (IOE) and GSMA. His industry experience in technical software development and management consulting roles brings unique insight to his teaching and research. 

His research has been presented at international conferences in Europe, Africa, and North America. He has contributed to policy discussions at the International Labour Organization, as an expert panelist in South Africa and at Chatham House, London.

He is a Fellow of the HEA, an Associate Fellow at the Digital Futures at Work Research Centre, a member of the Association for Information Systems and a member of the Society for the Advancement of Socio-Economics (SASE).
