BIO

I am currently employed as a Senior Research Ethics and Integrity Officer (SREIO) within the Research, Ethics, Integrity & Governance team at the University of Sussex. I oversee the Faculty of Science, Engineering and Medicine: Science, Engineering and Technology Research Ethics Committee (F-REC SEMSET). My core responsibility is to manage, organise, and liaise with members of the research ethics committee to enable efficient processing of research ethics applications. Additionally, I provide support and guidance to researchers (students and staff alike) on relevant ethical or governance queries for their individual projects. I also contribute to writing and informing guidance to be used by all researchers at the university. As a result of my work in professional services in a Higher Education institution, I have extensive knowledge about research ethics, integrity, and governance in academic research.

Additionally, I have completed a Psychology PhD in exploring the methods of research used to investigate domestic cat behaviour and cognition. I also hold an MRes in Psychological Methods and a BSc in Psychology with Neuroscience. I have multiple research publications as both a principal and co-author in animal cognition and human-animal interactions. I also hold four years of experience of working in Higher Education as a Doctoral Tutor on a variety of core psychology modules within BPS-accredited courses (including research methods and statistics) and I also hold an AFHEA qualification. As a result of my academic work, I am knowledgeable in research design, and I have strong statistical analysis skills. I have conducted large-scale surveys, worked with large datasets, and have excellent oral and written communication skills to suit a range of audiences.
