I am a doctoral researcher at the School of Global Studies, University of Sussex, UK and a Fellow at the Faculty of Business and Economics, Universiti Malaya, Malaysia. My research project looks into the different modalities of giving among Muslims in Birmingham, United Kingdom, in relation to the social welfare benefits system and the way in which the practice of giving becomes a means for community building.
