I enjoy public-facing work for a range of audiences.

I regularly introduce film screenings and conduct Q&As with filmmakers at public institutions. These range from local cinemas in Brighton and Lewes to London organizations such as the Garden Cinema and the BFI. I have also served on festival and competition juries both within and outside the UK. I sit on the board of CineCity, the Brighton Film Festival, and have helped programme screenings for the festival, and in other spaces around the country. I helped establish the Chinese Independent Film Archive in Newcastle, and remain closely involved with the archive's activities, which include public screenings.

I also give public lectures for general audiences. In 2026, I am one of the lecturers in Gresham College's Modern China series.
