Emanuela's expertise and research interests lie in the area of environmental law, with a special focus on EU and international environmental law, the interplay between these two legal orders, the external dimension of EU environmental policies, and the EU contribution to global environmental governance. 

Within this context, a good part of her research takes a transnational law perspective to the analysis of environmental law, and she is partiocularly interested in examining the interplay between different layers of regulation and governance in the management of environmental problems, and the role of different actors to these processes. In that respect, Emanuela is also particularly interested in the role of courts and adjudication in the environmental field, and on the relationship between human rights and the environment. 

Through her work she has researched extensively on the question of responsibility and liability for environmental harm, environmental crimes and enforcement, environmental governance, and environmental principles. 

Her currently research is looking at the role of regulation in promoting sustainable supply chains and companies environmental responsibility, with special attention to due diligence requirements in the field of human rights, and in the context of the fight against deforestation.  

Emanuela welcomes PhD supervision in the field of international environmental law, and EU environmental law, particularly with regard to the above areas.
