Cătălina Z. Bălan is a Filmmaker and Educator. Her work so far has taken many shapes from Documentary, Short Fiction, and Experimental Video. Recognising the fluidity of media forms and mixing media, materials and genres has always been part of her artistic exploration.

She brings real-world experience and industry insights into the classroom. Her journey has included working on various projects ranging from thought-provoking documentaries that shed light on pressing social issues, to crafting engaging narratives that captivate audiences across different genres. From conceptualization to post-production, she provides students with a comprehensive understanding of the video production process. This includes hands-on experience with cameras, lighting, sound, and editing tools, equipping them with the technical skills required to bring their visions to life.

As an educator, she believes in fostering a collaborative and innovative learning environment that empowers students to explore their creative potential. Her philosophy is rooted in the idea that every student possesses a unique voice and perspective, and her goal is to guide them in harnessing these qualities to become confident filmmakers and produce impactful productions.

With a passion for storytelling and the moving image, she is keen to inspire and educate the next generation of media creators.
