Verona is a Reader in Legal Education and a member of the Education Team, currently leading on Assessment, at Sussex Law School. She is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA), Co-Convenor of the International Connecting Legal Education Network and a Judge of the OUP Law Teacher of the Year Award.

Prior to joining Sussex Law School in 2013, Verona worked as an Assistant Lecturer in Law at University College Cork (Ireland) and as a Lecturer in Law and Social Studies in Coláiste Stiofáin Naofa (CSN) a College of Further Education in Ireland. Verona has also worked as a legal researcher for the Law Reform Commission of Ireland, as Lead Researcher on the Report on Defences in the Criminal Law, and the Irish Penal Reform Trust. During her PhD studies, she taught at the University of Notre Dame, Indiana (US) as part of her Fulbright Scholarship Award.
