Office Hours: 10.00 to 12.00 Wednesday mornings (by appointment)
Dr Edmunds is a Reader in Sociology and Co-Director of the Ethnicity, Race and Diverse Societies Research Network and she was, until recently, the PGR Convenor for Sociology and Gender Studies and Sociology's SeNSS lead for Sussex. Before coming to Sussex she was a Post Doctoral Fellow and University Lecturer in Sociology and University Lecturer and Senior Research Fellow in Development Studies at the University of Cambridge. She has a PhD from the London School of Economics in political relations between Europe and the Middle East and an LLM in human rights (with Distinction) from Birkbeck, University of London. Dr Edmunds has multiple interlocking research interests which hinge essentially on the exercise of power. Thus, she has focused on development, human rights, citizenship, elites, cosmopolitanism and racism. She is committed to a comparative and interdisciplinary perspective. Dr Edmunds is currently working on alliances between feminism and the rise of right wing populism across Europe. She intends to follow this with work on IDF Women in Gaza, 2023-4.
