Carol Alexander has extensive teaching experience across quantitative finance, financial mathematics, econometrics, risk management, and digital asset markets at undergraduate, postgraduate, and executive education levels. At the University of Sussex, she has developed and delivered core modules in Financial Risk Management and Blockchains and Crypto Assets for both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, as well as advanced courses in volatility analysis, quantitative methods for finance, essential and advanced quantitative finance, and mathematics for economists. Her teaching portfolio also includes modules on econometrics, linear algebra, group theory, microeconomics, macroeconomics, statistics, and game theory.

Alexander has designed and convened MSc and BSc degree programmes in financial engineering, fintech, and risk management, contributed to international teaching initiatives—including postgraduate modules at Peking University HSBC Business School and TU Munich—and supervised numerous MSc and PhD dissertations in quantitative finance, risk modelling, and digital assets. Many of her former doctoral students now hold senior positions in academia and industry worldwide.

In addition to traditional classroom teaching, Alexander is a leader in digital and AI-supported education. She is founder and presenter of the “Professor Carol Alexander” YouTube channel, which provides open-access, lecture-based playlists for Financial Risk Management and Blockchains and Crypto Assets, and features extensive content on the application of generative AI for learning, teaching, and research in finance and quantitative methods. Her digital teaching resources are widely used by students and practitioners internationally, and her videos on generative AI in finance and education have become a reference for innovation in pedagogy. She currently leads the AI in Education Working Group at Sussex Business School, advancing the integration of generative AI tools into finance curricula and assessment.

Alexander’s teaching is informed by her research and industry experience, emphasising quantitative rigour, practical application, and the use of current technologies in both traditional and digital financial markets.
