BIO
I am Assistant Professor in Computer Science and AI at University of Sussex. I am also Honorary Research Fellow at University College London where I continue collaborations.
My research broadly covers automatic detection of behaviour and experience in a wide range of contexts (e.g. chronic pain, Parkinson's disease, cars, physical activity at home, sitting) with particular focus on movement expressions and physiological responses. My interests are in:
- addressing foundational machine learning problems with pecularities for this area - including very limited data, high variations, complex relations between expression and experience, what is 'ground truth', and
- applying advanced machine learning methods to messy, real-world data so as to facilitate the use of these AI systems in everyday use settings.
I am open to industry, academic, or other collaborations as well as PhD supervisions that overlap with these areas. I currently supervise 2 PhD students as primary supervisor and 2 PhD students (one of them at University College London) as secondary supervisor.
