I teach various topics related to Global History and the histories of the Middle East and Latin America. These include specific courses on Palestine in the 19th and 20th century as well as the history of Latin American revolutions in the 20th century.

PhD supervision

I'm very interested in supervising PhD topics that place the history of Palestine and the Middle East within wider global history perspectives. I also welcome proposals on Latin American topics that take a similarly global approach. Key themes include:

• Migration, diaspora and mobility
• Colonialism and postcolonialism
• Revolutions and revolutionaries
• Religiosity, miracles and pilgrimage
• Historical writing and narrativity

Current and past PhD topics I have supervised include:

• Mobility and the Making of Ramallah during the mandate period in Palestine
• Palestinian heritage and archival activism in the digital era
• Domestic Interiors and National Identity in Postcolonial Egypt
• Civilizational Arabism: Race, Culture and the Geopoligical Destiny of the Syro-Iraqi Space (1938-2016)
• British colonial policy in the city of Nablus during the Palestine Mandate
