My research interrogates popular Hollywood and European cinema, with a particular focus on teen film. Other research interests include female authorship, genre cinema and constructions of space. Bringing these areas together, I am currently writing a monograph on Céline Sciamma's Girlhood (2014) as part of Routledge's Cinema and Youth Cultures series.

I recently published Rethinking the Hollywood Teen Movie (Edinburgh University Press, 2017), which combines close textual analysis and critical theory to argue that the genre possesses a distinct narrative and aesthetic. Elsewhere, I have published a number of book chapters and journal articles, including a co-edited collection of original essays on the director and screenwriter, Amy Heckerling.
