Cécile Chevalier's research sits at the intersections of human augmentation technologies, body politics, and critical computational humanities. Their work interrogates how computational infrastructures encode and erase marginalised bodies of knowledges and epistemologies. Core to this practice is the construction of new instruments and sonic environments. Built from inside human machine entanglement, Chevalier re-imagime forms of border phenomenologies: liminal border & governances, embodied modes of knowing drawn from decolonial and postcolonial theories, technofeminism, and feminist disability studies. 

Cécile co-founded the Feminist Approaches to Computational Technology Network (2019) with Sharon Webb, which led to Co-Investigator on the UKRI/IRC-funded Intersections, Feminism, Technology & Digital Humanities ((2020-21)) and Full Stack Feminism (2021-24). At Sussex, they are affiliated with the Digital Humanities Lab, Sussex AI, and the Open Science Community, whilst co-chairing the Neurodiversity Staff Network and Race Equality Lead for Media Arts & Humanities Faculty.
