My work moves across dance, theatre and performance studies, with an emphasis on the exploration of performance politics. I am particularly interested in thinking at the intersection of materialist thought, critical race theory and indigenous studies for theorising the ways bodies move: from modernist and contemporary theatre choreographies, to disco dancefloors and forms of industrial protest.

I joined Sussex in January 2017, having been Lecturer in Dance Studies at the University of Roehampton (2013-2017). I received both my PhD in Theatre and Performance and my MA in Performance and Culture from Goldsmiths, University of London, and my BA in Classical Studies with English Literature from King's College London. Before embarking on my university studies I trained professionally in ballet and contemporary dance.

From January 2026 to January 2027 I am taking up a Leverhulme Research Fellowship for my new projet Reparative Movements.

Previously Joint Head of Drama (with Dr William McEvoy), September 2022 - December 2025.

Previously UCU Rep for the Faculty of Media, Arts and Humanities.

In addition to teaching across the Drama programme, I am a member of Drama's student-staff Anti-Racism Working Group.

 
In collaboration with Dr Sharanya Murali (Brunel), I am also Researcher Officer for Development and Public Engagement for TaPRA (Theatre and Performance Research Association).
