My main interest is in making the teaching and learning process accessible to all, and encouraging engagement with the process in order to enable academic flourishing. I engage in open educational practices - using teaching & learning techniques that draw on open and participatory technologies and creating high-quality Open Educational Resources (OER) in order to facilitate learning.

I have created a range of teaching & learning objects and shared them under an open license that permits no-cost access (see the Publications section). OERs increase access to education and empower students in the learning process. Their use aims to ensure that everyone, everywhere, has access to a high-quality education. The OERs I have created support the development of academic writing, argumentation, and English language learning - the latter overlapping with an interest in Education for Sustainable Development.

My experience in curriculum and materials development is complemented by expertise in instructional design and an awareness of ways to improve accessibility in an online environment.

My pedagogic interest in the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL), and evidence-informed teaching, underpins all of my work, and I draw heavily on the use of a dialogic approach, or a 'thinking together' pedagogy that harnesses the power of talk to stimulate and extend thinking and advance learning and understanding. The approach is a flexible, responsive one that allows for everyone concerned to continue learning and adapting to context. I use this approach in my teaching, teacher training and academic development activities.
