I have a professional background including opera, music theatre and theatre direction, scenic design, moving image, TV, performing.  
Joining Sussex in 2007 as AHRC Fellow in the Creative and Performing Arts, I have explored opera and music theatre as technological adventure and societal forum.  My art projects and research often link historic and current practice, the evolving artistic toolbox, and new spaces technology has created to explore the impacts of technological transformation itself - cultural, emotional, political - and imagining possible futures for opera.

I've collaborated with many composers and writers including Luciano Berio, Harrison Birtwistle, Judith Weir, Lionel Bart, David Sawer, Tansy Davies, Dai Fujikura, Mira Calix, Claudia Molitor, Carleen Anderson, Nicholas Ridout, John Woolrich, Gavin Higgins.

Recent research focuses on uses of Augmented and Virtual Reality; robotics  and AI, and film responses to contemporary classical recordings.
