BIO
Dr Chloe Anthony is Assistant Professor in Law with research interests in environmental law. She completed ESRC-funded doctoral research on legal and governance frameworks for nature restoration in England in December 2023. Her research has focused on collaborative environmental governance regimes at local, national and international levels as well as post-Brexit UK environmental law and governance. She is particularly interested in the perspectives of those directly involved in environmental management as well as multi-level environmental governance.
Chloe has taught law undergraduate and postgraduate modules, including core subjects English Legal System, Land Law, and EU Law; pathway subject Contemporary Issues in Law; and optional modules Foundations of Environmental Law, International Trade Law, Biodiversity and Natural Resources Law, and Land, Property and Environment. Chloe leads Sussex Law School's Housing Law Clinic and co-leads the Environmental Justice Law Clinic. She holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education.
Chloe is Curriculum Lead, LLB Convenor and Year 2 Law Tutor.
Chloe completed a UKRI policy internship at the Joint Nature Conservation Committee in March 2023 and has provided legal research to the UK Trade Policy Observatory and the UK Environmental Law Association (UKELA). Chloe was co-chair of UKELA's Governance and Devolution Group between 2023 and 2025, and remains an active member of this group and UKELA's Nature Conservation Group. Chloe is currently co-chair of the Environmental Law Group of the International Union of Nature Conservation's UK National Committee.
