Dr Will McCready is a Barrister and Lecturer, specialising in Immigration and Asylum Law, Human Rights Law and International Criminal Law. He is the Deputy Director of Sussex Clinical Legal Education, and leads the Migration Law Clinic, which provides free legal advice on cases involving Immigration and Asylum law. He also helps to supervise the Human Rights Law Clinic, which provides legal advice to NGOs working in the field of Human Rights.

Before joining the University of Sussex in 2018, he was a Barrister at Garden Court North Chambers, specialising in Immigration & Asylum Law and Human Rights Law.

In 2015, he completed a PhD at the University of Bristol in International Criminal Law and Public International Law, focusing on the jurisdictional immunities of States and their officials in cases involving alleged human rights abuses and international crimes. In 2016, he assisted the Trial Chamber of the Extraordinary Chambers of the Courts of Cambodia (ECCC), during the trial of Cambodia’s former head of State, Khieu Samphan, and the former second in command of the Khmer Rouge, Nuon Chea, on charges of genocide and crimes against humanity.
