I am a Professor of Neuroscience (2014-present) within the School of Life Sciences at the University of Sussex. Since joining Sussex, I have acted as the neuroscience degree convenor and the Exam Board deputy chair. I am the current Head of Department (Neuroscience, since 2023).

After completing my PhD in neural circuit electrophysiology, I carried out postdocs at the Royal Free Hospital, UCL, University of Sussex, University of California, Berkeley and the MRC Laboratory for Molecular and Cell Biology, UCL. My research bridges cellular, molecular, and behavioural neuroscience, focusing heavily on the functional architecture of synapses and the neural circuits governing behaviour.
