Before joining the faculty, I held several research positions at Sussex. I held an EPSRC Fellowship in Complexity Science at the Sussex Centre for Consciousness Science, where I have also been a postdoc with Anil Seth. In addition, I have been postdoc with Seb Oliver in the Data Intensive Science Centre (DISCUS).
Before moving to Sussex, I was a postdoc at the Institute for Adaptive and Neural Computation at the University of Edinburgh. There I worked mainly on synaptic plasticity and the neural basis of learning and memory.
I obtained my PhD in theoretical physics from the University of Oxford (Balliol College), and the topic of my thesis was string theory. For my first degree and Masters, I studied Parts I, II and III of the Mathematical Tripos at St John's College, Cambridge.
