As Senior Research Manager for the Faculty of Media, Arts & Humanities (MAH), I provide strategic and operational leadership for Research Professional Services, working closely with the Associate Dean for Research & Innovation (ADRI) and the Faculty's academic research leadership.

My role spans research strategy and funding, REF preparation, research impact and knowledge exchange, postgraduate research, research culture, and programme and financial management. Working with the ADRI and Katherine Blackadder, AHRC IAA Programme Manager, I lead delivery and development of the Faculty's AHRC Impact Acceleration Account and support and enable REF preparation across the Faculty's Arts, Humanities and Media disciplines.

I lead the Research Professional Services team, which provides specialist support for researchers and Postgraduate Researchers across MAH. I work closely with academic and professional services colleagues across the University and with external partners to develop research funding, impact and knowledge-exchange activity, interdisciplinary collaboration and a supportive research environment.

The team is based in the Silverstone Building, home to the MAH Research Institute. MAH academic staff can find research information, guidance and opportunities on the Faculty's internal Research & Innovation SharePoint pages, while prospective and current PGRs can access dedicated information and guidance through the MAH PGR Hub page.

Before taking up my current role, I was Research Manager in the School of Arts & Humanities and, before that, Research Impact and Engagement Manager in the School of Global Studies, where I supported REF activity across Anthropology, Geography and International Relations.

I have worked at Sussex in a range of research, knowledge-exchange and business-development roles, including Business Development Manager for the Creative and Cultural Industries and CASA Director in the former School of Cognitive and Computing Sciences. My experience has involved working with researchers across Arts & Humanities, Social Sciences, Science and interdisciplinary research environments, as well as developing partnerships with cultural, creative, public-sector and other external organisations.

Earlier in my career, I worked for South East Arts, which subsequently became part of Arts Council England, and in Brighton's developing creative and digital sector.
